Parrott Construction scoop two LABC Building Excellence Awards
Parrott Construction is delighted to have won two accolades at the Central Region LABC Building Excellence Awards evening held in Milton Keynes on Friday 22nd April 2016.
More than 250 people, including contractors, architects, designers and local authority building control surveyors gathered to celebrate outstanding construction.
Finalists from Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire attended the awards, which are staged annually to celebrate the design and construction teams that, having tussled with technical issues and difficult sites, found innovative and creative solutions.
St. Paul’s Square in Bedford won 1st place in its category of Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development. The transformation of a cluster of once derelict buildings located at 1-4 St Paul’s Square in Bedford into 10 comfortable, modern and affordable flats, for our client Aldwyck Housing Group, funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Bedford Borough Council, and the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) for the local people of Bedford.
Our rural housing project located at Biggleswade Road in the village of Upper Caldecote also received ‘Highly Commendable’ within the same category of Best Social or Affordable Housing Development. The project, comprising seven 2 and 3 bedroom houses and three 2 bedroom bungalows, built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5 for our partner client Grand Union Housing Group, continues Parrott’s tradition of producing exceptional rural developments in Bedfordshire villages.
Dave Lakin, Head of New Business and Development at Grand Union commented “They are our greenest homes ever and it is great to see the excellent work Parrott’s have done on them being recognised”.
Chris Layram, MD of Parrott Construction said “We are very proud to have successfully received awards for both projects. It is a great achievement which further demonstrates our continued commitment to producing high quality housing and working in partnership with our key Clients and Local Authorities”.
Following our success at a regional level, we have qualified as a finalist for the LABC Grand Finals held in London in November 2016.
