Cotton End Completes on Time
We have recently completed the scheme at High Road, Cotton End for North Hertfordshire Homes. This consisted of the construction of two blocks of 6 flats with associated parking facilities and achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
Unlike many sites there was ample room on site for storage of materials which made things a lot easier. The buildings were of timber frame construction with traditional strip foundations. They incorporated a master fob entry system which allows all NHH staff to access the building with their existing access cards.
Due to existing site conditions we had to use permeable blocks for the car parking areas and install a 1200mm diameter water storage pipe to deal with the excess of water on site. During installation it was evident that this was required as within two days the pipe was full and measures had to be taken to pump out the pipe a number of times before the installation of the permanent drainage system.
Start on site was during December 2009 and the overall contract value was £ 963,302
