Taster Sessions Completed Successfully
We previously reported on the development at Wauluds House, Luton and the two taster sessions that were being held during May and June, these have now been completed and with great success.
The taster sessions took place on the 17th & 18th May 2010 and the 28th & 29th June 2010. They were initially set up to encourage students from Lea Manor School into the construction industry however after the success of the first two sessions it was decided to hold a session for the local residents of Marsh Farm. The sessions involved comprehensive talks, speeches and discussions on various roles and responsibilities within the construction industry along with site Health & Safety and training opportunities from Barnfield College. Along with Parrott Construction and Barnfield College talks were also given by Aldwyck Housing Group Ltd and Turning Corners. After each session was complete a site tour was conducted to examine the different construction methods used on the building.
We are still progressing with our apprentices on site from Barnfield and Ridgemond Colleges with there being approx 11 apprentices on site at present.
