Supporting Local Education
A Look at Our Recent Community Engagement
At Parrott Construction, we believe in building more than just homes and infrastructure — we’re committed to supporting the communities we work in, especially when it comes to inspiring the next generation. This month, we’re proud to highlight a series of recent community engagement activities that reflect this commitment in action.

Inspiring Young Minds at Higham Ferrers Nursery and Infant School
As part of their Superhero Day, Nita Wills from our team visited the nursery class to talk about what it means to work in construction — and how builders play a vital role in creating the places we live, work, and play. The children enjoyed hearing about the “superhero” jobs involved in building projects, and we were pleased to donate a range of play materials including foam bricks, large bricks, kinetic sand, and magnetic shapes. These hands-on resources supported their learning through imaginative play and sparked some brilliant questions from the pupils.
Careers Inspiration at The Bedford College Group
Earlier this term, we also took part in a careers event hosted by The Bedford College Group, speaking with students about the wide range of career opportunities available in the construction industry. Our team enjoyed answering questions, sharing experiences from the field, and helping students understand how their skills and interests could shape their future career paths in the sector.

Hands-On Learning at Compass Primary Academy
We also visited Compass Primary Academy in Kettering, where students were given the opportunity to explore the tools, materials, and safety gear used on construction sites. Our team brought along foam bricks and mini hi-vis vests to help bring the topic to life, encouraging children to think practically and creatively about the built environment around them.
These activities are just a small part of our ongoing commitment to education, outreach, and community support. We believe that early engagement helps build awareness, curiosity, and confidence — and we’re always proud to contribute where we can.

Project Handover: Stamford Road, Kettering

We’re proud to announce the successful completion and handover of the Stamford Road housing development in Kettering to our client, North Northamptonshire Council.
This project involved the demolition of a former Methodist church to make way for eight high-quality social housing dwellings, including a thoughtful mix of bungalows and family houses. The development helps address the growing demand for affordable housing in the area, contributing to a stronger and more inclusive local community.
From initial groundworks to final finishing touches, our team collaborated closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure the build met the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Each home has been designed with comfort and practicality in mind, delivering energy-efficient living spaces that support long-term wellbeing.
We’re delighted with the results and confident these new homes will serve residents for years to come — offering not just housing, but a sense of community and pride.

Handover – The Hedges, Woollam Crescent
We’re proud to announce the successful completion and handover of our latest project at The Hedges, Woollam Crescent, St Albans, delivered in partnership with St Albans City and District Council.

This development transforms a former brownfield site—previously occupied by temporary housing—into high-quality, sustainable homes for social rent.
Our contract covered the demolition of existing structures and the design and construction of 12 new homes, including:

– Six family-sized semi-detached houses, each with three bedrooms and private rear gardens.
– Six two-bedroom apartments, designed with accessibility in mind, where ground-floor flats feature wet rooms to assist with mobility needs and private outdoor space.
Residents will also benefit from a communal garden and dedicated parking, fostering a welcoming and practical living environment.
Built to the highest standards, these homes incorporate eco-friendly features to minimize environmental impact and reduce running costs. Solar PV panels and Air Source Heat Pumps ensure high energy efficiency, resulting in an impressive EPC rating of B.
At Parrott Construction, we’re committed to delivering sustainable, community-focused developments—and The Hedges is a shining example of that mission.

Bedford Garage Sites Development for BPHA
The recent stretch of bright weather has provided ideal conditions for advancing our latest residential project in Kempston. We are proud to deliver four traditionally built, energy-efficient homes on behalf of our valued client, BPHA.

This development has transformed a former garage site into much-needed housing, consisting of thoughtfully designed two-bedroom homes that prioritize sustainability and modern living. With the footings completed, floors installed, and brickwork now reaching joist level, our team has made significant strides. The installation of joists marks another key milestone, and we look forward to further progress as we build up to wall plate level.
Beyond the structural work, the development will also include dedicated on-site parking and EV charging points, ensuring convenience and future-proofing for residents. These enhancements align with our commitment to sustainable, high-quality construction that meets the needs of both homeowners and the wider community.
We extend our appreciation to our trusted subcontractors—Rowan Groundworks, PJH Brickwork Contractors, I&J Scaffolding, and MAT Installations—whose expertise and dedication continue to drive this project forward.
Stay tuned for further updates as we bring this development to completion!

Eldon Avenue, Borehamwood – New Build Project
Our project at Eldon Avenue was successfully completed and handed over to our client Hertsmere Developments early January 2025.

The project involved the demolition of two blocks of unused lock-up garages and the remediation of the site prior to commencement. Specialist foundations had to be constructed due to the trees and the general nature of the ground conditions.
The site is very restrictive and parking is at a premium, however, we still managed to find room to accommodate nine car parking spaces, cycle parking, car charging and an enclosed bin area!
All of the apartments are equipped with balconies and are complemented with top-quality finishes throughout the development. The external facades feature a combination of facing brickwork, render, cladding panels and tall modern windows, which flood the apartment with natural light.
This £2.6 million design and build project, which has produced 11 high-quality apartments, is a testament to the quality that Parrott Construction is renowned for.
